Mission

“The green fields, the lofty trees, the buds and flowers, the passing cloud, the falling rain, the babbling brook, the glories of the heavens, speak to our hearts, and invite us to become acquainted with Him who made them all.”

-E.G. White “Steps To Christ,” pg 85

History

The Acquainting Agriculture Curriculum began with the dream of creating a program to enable educators to successfully integrate agriculture into their school curriculums.  At the 2019 convention of the Adventist Agriculture Association (AdAgrA), educators expressed a need for help at their schools. Angela suggested developing a curriculum to guide them as they worked to create gardens and agriculture programs in their schools.

That summer, a group of educators from all over the United States flew to Bountiful Blessings Farm in Tennessee where Anglea facilitated discussions about creating a curriculum that guides teachers both on what to teach and how to teach it. They then worked out a framework for what would become the curriculum that is now available.

The framework was presented to the 2020 AdAgrA board, and during that time, God impressed a talented, young educator that she could write the curriculum and she rose to the challenge.  Anna listened to almost every Audioverse presentation from every AdAgrA conference and spent hours of research before writing every chapter.  She also sketched every one of the illustrations in every level of the curriculum.

A few months into the project, God brought another talented writer onto the scene to help adapt the curriculum to a middle school and elementary school version. Amazingly, Melissa had been feeling a desire for several years to develop an agriculture curriculum for young students.

Every step of the way in designing this curriculum, God has been guiding and blessing.  We believe that this is a message for such a time as this.

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this”

- Ps 37:3-5
